A couple of days in Belfast for St. Patricks

After returning from Prague I stayed over at Stansted airport for the night and went straight to Belfast, where I had a rather long wait for my boyfriends flight to arrive (he and his friend were flying from Blackpool). I entertained myself by venturing outside periodically to have a cigarette (terrible habit, I know!) and then getting lost trying to get back to the arrivals room, to wait for my boyfriend, it could only happen to me!.

When my boyfriends flight arrived, we met up with his mum (who lives in a small town nearby to Belfast) and she drove us back to her house, where we chilled out for a bit before going out for the night to celebrate St. Patrick’s day with two friends of my boyfriend. We had a great time in a club there, dancing around to a live band, although my boyfriend decided he didn’t want to dance at first, so I spent my time dancing around on my own trying to avoid some random drunk man who kept trying to dance with me!.

The next day we headed into the town of Magherafelt and rented a couple of films to watch that evening as we were all very tired and didn’t feel like going out for the night. We watched ‘Knocked up’ which was quite funny and entertaining and then ‘American Gangster’ which was also pretty good.

On our final full day we went to see my boyfriends Granny and aunts, and then went to Waterfoot to see his cousins, they live right on the edge of a beach and so we played some hurling there, but I was really dreadful at it! I think I’ll leave the Irish sports to my boyfriend in the future!. The drive back to Magherafelt was very beautiful, there were some waterfalls and loads of hills all around us, very pretty indeed.

In the evening my boyfriends friend drove us into Belfast for his gig, it was a really good night - I danced lots, again!, whilst my boyfriend and his friend sat at the bar thinking I was a bit mad. Then for some reason my boyfriends friend and I got the giggles, we honestly couldn’t stop laughing for a good few hours and nobody knew why… we didn’t even know ourselves!, it got to the point where we were both actually crying because we were laughing so much. We eventually stopped giggling when we got back to Magherafelt, and fell asleep at about 4am.

The next day we had to leave Northern Ireland and fly back to Liverpool, my boyfriends friend and I got the giggles again for a bit at Derry airport, but when we landed in Liverpool we were all a bit tired, so the giggling ceased and we made our way back to Preston (where my boyfriend and his friend go to university).

I had a great couple of days and I found Belfast to be quite a nice city, I’d definitely go back for another visit.
